Joomla won't let WPMU authors access WP dashboard w/o Joomla admin access

WPMU authors/editors can't access their WP dashboard unless they have admin level access to my Joomla site. When they try to edit blog entry, they get the Joomla administration sign in window and can't access blog dashboard unless they have backend access to my Joomla site.

I followed installation and set up instructions in the video tutorials. I've tried enabling and disabling the WPMU user automatic snycing, to no avail. What am I doing wrong? I don't have any WPMU plugins or modules installed. I saw some references to same on this board, but they were not specific about plugin/module name or where to find. (WPMU.org or somewhere on corePHP?)

This has been very exasperating. Please help?
